The Easter Lily Cactus clearly loves the 90 degree weather. We've pretty much left it alone and only water it once a month or so, because it's in a pot.
The blooms have been full of bees all morning. I followed the large bee from here over to our pumpkin as it dropped in to pollinate a female flower! It was exciting to see that we're attracting so many pollinators to the garden and inviting them to stay awhile.
Prior to bloom, the cactus looks like weird space creatures.
I love the pot we planted it in. It was a gift from Mindy's sister, Maureen, purchased from Jackalope Pottery in North Hollywood. (http://jackalopepotterynh.com/.)
This was the first thing I saw this morning when I opened the shades. Abbey is a neighborhood feral cat who often lives under the stairs in our backyard. (Mindy and our neighbor work together to spay and neuter community cats.) She has become my garden buddy and strolls around each morning checking out what's in bloom.
